FAQ
Everything you need to know about Cooee K9 treats — ingredients, feeding, health and more.
General
How many treats should I feed my dog per day? ▾
Treats should make up no more than 10% of your dog's daily calories. For a medium dog (15–20kg), that's roughly 2–3 small treats or one chew daily alongside regular meals. Adjust main meals accordingly to prevent weight gain — treats count.

Puppies under 6 months do best with softer treats like lamb lung cubes or chicken jerky. Once teething begins, size-appropriate bully sticks are safe under supervision. Avoid very hard chews (antlers, solid bones) until adult teeth are in — they can fracture puppy teeth.

All of our products are sourced from trusted Australian and New Zealand farms and packed locally in Australia. No imports from unknown supply chains — you know exactly where the ingredient comes from.
Why sourcing matters: ingredients to avoidHow do I store natural dog treats? ▾
Store all treats in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For long-term storage, refrigerate or freeze to extend freshness. All Cooee K9 treats have a 12-month shelf life from date of purchase.
What's the difference between bully sticks and rawhide? ▾
Rawhide can provide collagen but is often heavily processed with chemicals, and large swallowed pieces can cause intestinal blockages. Bully sticks are 100% digestible, high in protein and collagen, single-ingredient, and significantly safer for your dog's gut health.
Full comparison: bully sticks vs rawhideWhat are the best long-lasting chews for strong chewers? ▾
For power chewers, our Tough Bully Sticks, Goat Horns, and Cow Hooves are the most durable options. They're natural, long-lasting, and provide mental stimulation for up to an hour depending on the dog.

Are Cooee K9 treats single ingredient? ▾
Yes. Every treat in our range is single-ingredient — one protein, nothing else. No fillers, no flavour enhancers, no preservatives. What's on the label is everything that's in the bag.
Why single ingredient mattersDo your treats contain additives or preservatives? ▾
No. Our treats are air-dried — moisture removal is the preservation method, which means no artificial preservatives are needed. Nothing artificial, nothing added.
Ingredients to avoid in dog treatsAre your treats grain-free? ▾
Yes. All Cooee K9 treats are 100% grain-free with no fillers, making them easier to digest for most dogs — including those with grain sensitivities.
Are bully sticks high in protein? ▾
Yes. Our bully sticks are single-ingredient 100% beef, naturally high in protein and relatively low in fat — a better nutritional profile than many treat alternatives.
Are all of your treats low in fat? ▾
Many are — kangaroo, rabbit, and fish are all naturally lean proteins. Some chews (like bully sticks) are higher in fat and more calorie-dense. Check individual product pages for fat content, or browse our curated low-fat range.

Our ears, tendons, and cartilage chews are naturally rich in collagen — supporting joint health, skin, and coat condition. Kangaroo tendons in particular are high in collagen and very digestible.
Are dried fish treats safe for dogs? ▾
Yes. Dried fish is one of the best things you can give your dog — it's a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) which support brain health, joint function, and coat condition. Our fish treats are single-ingredient and air-dried with no additives.
Full guide: seafood treats for dogsWhich treats are highest in calcium? ▾
Our bones and seafood-based chews — particularly shark cartilage — provide natural calcium to support bone and joint health. Shark cartilage is also a natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin.
Health & Dental
Are Cooee K9 treats hypoallergenic? ▾
All of our treats are single-protein — kangaroo, lamb, fish, chicken, beef, and more. Single-protein treats are the gold standard for dogs with food allergies because you can isolate exactly what your dog is reacting to. For dogs with known sensitivities to chicken or beef, kangaroo, rabbit, and fish are naturally lower-risk novel proteins.
Treats for sensitive and itchy dogsWhich treats are best for dogs with allergies? ▾
Kangaroo, lamb, and fish are our most recommended options for allergy-prone dogs. These are novel proteins — uncommon in most commercial diets — which means most dogs haven't developed sensitivities to them.

Can dog treats upset my dog's stomach? ▾
Any new food can cause a temporary digestive response — particularly rich or fatty chews introduced too quickly. We recommend introducing new treats gradually, starting with small amounts. If you're unsure which protein suits your dog, our 6 Protein Trial Pack lets you test several at once.

Yes. Chews like ears, tendons, and cartilage are natural sources of collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin — compounds that support joint function, skin, and coat health. Particularly beneficial for senior dogs or large breeds prone to joint issues.
Treats for senior dogsDo your treats help clean dogs' teeth? ▾
Yes. Chewing on bully sticks, tendons, and ribs creates mechanical friction against the tooth surface that removes plaque before it hardens into tartar. It's not a substitute for professional dental cleaning once tartar has built up, but used consistently it significantly slows progression.
